Environment
Since 1887, TID has been a good steward of the environment and the resources entrusted to us.
With a diverse mix of clean, carbon-free generation resources, our portfolio mirrors our commitment to meeting California’s greenhouse gas emission limits and climate change goals.
Together with Modesto Irrigation District, we’ve developed a comprehensive management plan for the River. The plan describes our proposed operations, improvements and resource protection measures under a new Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) license for the Don Pedro Project.
Wildfires in California seem to be growing in terms of strength, duration and devastation. TID continually monitors, revises and expands our wildfire safety efforts throughout our service territory and beyond. The safety of our employees, customers and community is our top priority.
Our Service Area is home to a variety of raptors and other large birds which can be exposed to power line risks. To address these concerns, TID has an Avian Protection Plan which outlines steps we take to minimize those risks.
We strive to provide safe, reliable electric service to residents and businesses throughout our 662 square-mile service area. We’re committed to protecting the safety of the public, our customers and employees.
TID’s Sustainability Plan will serve as the District’s guiding document, outlining our vision for the next 15 years as we continue to implement practices that best serve our customers and the environment.
TID’s Water-Wise Demonstration Garden at our Turlock Office illustrates four distinct planting styles using a mixture of plants native to California as well as those from other western states and parts of the world suited to our hot, dry summers.
