TID Decreases Power Supply Adjustment on Electric Bills

Customers will see a decrease of $0.01 per kilowatt-hour.
TURLOCK – Effective June 1, 2024 the Power Supply Adjustment (PSA) on Turlock Irrigation District electric bills will move from a half-cent per kWh charge to a half-cent per kWh credit. Customers will see a $0.01 per kWh decrease in their bill.
In December 2022, TID experienced a dramatic increase in the cost associated with providing electric service, largely due to an increase in natural gas prices. In response to this increase in the District’s power supply costs, the PSA moved to a half-cent charge. Now that those power supply costs have leveled out, the PSA is moving back to a half-cent credit, where it had been from 2012 to 2022.
A PSA adjustment is not a change in the base rates. Unlike a base rate increase, the PSA will increase or decrease depending on our net power supply costs. The PSA is reviewed, and can be adjusted twice a year, typically in June and December. The PSA calculation takes into account the previous 6 month power supply expenses and the forward 12 month projection of power supply costs. The PSA cannot go above one-cent per kWh charge or below a half-cent per kWh credit, regardless of the change in power supply costs.
